finding my inner me

somebody recently told me that us, human beings, thinks too much. we over-use our logic and loosing touch with our ‘inner self’ which we often call ‘our heart’ or ‘our soul’. initially, being the logical type and having known to put my feelings aside too often, i was ready to argue with him on this matter. reasongs being:
1. humans were given the so called ‘akal’ to be used, hence we are by default a ‘thinking’ being. the use of our ‘akal’ is what makes us different than other mammals
2. being logical and thinking about the consequences of our actions are the basis of good decisions in life, hence preventing us from doing stupid mistakes
he argues that, our mind comes from our ‘inner self’ but since we dont consult our ‘inner self’ enough, our mind takes over. so we end up ‘over thinking’ about stuff.

this particular somebody also told me that our very existence is shaped by our surrounding, we are measured by the impact we have on the surrounding and what our surroundings have rubbed off on us. so, really, our surrounding and the universe around us will guide our ‘inner self’, don’t overdo the thinking and the psycho analysing…..
come to think of it, it’s kinda trrue. i used to be very impulsive, i would just follow my feeling, instinct, my heart or what ever else you call it. just letting everything go with the flow and let the flow of the universe around me guided me. I was definitely happier then!
